AEG Airsoft Info

AEG airsoft guns differ from other airsoft guns, because they use electrical power from an onboard battery to drive a motor that turns gears inside the gun to compress and release a piston. This piston then creates a blast of air that propels the BB. They are often called automatic electric guns or AEG, because they are capable of a Rate of Fire (ROF) of 300 to 900 rounds per minute (RPM), and their muzzle velocities range from 200 to 400 feet per second. When you are looking at getting a hold of an airsoft gun, you might ask yourself what the real difference is between a spring airsoft gun and an electric airsoft gun. Are the electric ones really that much better?
Well, the AEG is just a spring powered airsoft gun that uses a electric motor to cock it. So the difference really lies in whether or not you want the luxury of a semi or fully automatic gun. Keep in mind though, when using an AEG airsoft gun you will need to carry more then just airsoft ammunition, Now you need to carry a backup battery or two. What could be worse than running out of “juice” in the middle of crunch time. If you are going to be using your airsoft gun for backyard wars, you should buy either an automatic electric gun or a spring shotgun. Shotguns are great because for about forty dollars you can buy a powerful gun that can pump out bbs at an incredible rate of fire.
Great inexpensive guns and perfect for small skirmishes. If you want something with a higher rate of fire than the shotgun, get an AEG. AEGs are powerful airsoft guns with RPMs (rounds per minute) close to if not the rpm of real assault rifles. They allow you to do anything in the backyard battle, from sniping to laying down suppressing fire. The downside of AEGs is that since they are fully automatic and more powerful than spring guns, they cost more and you will need to purchase more bbs because you will use them up very fast.
Electric airsoft rifles are very popular in airsoft paintball battles. These paintballs are the standard 6mm airsoft pellet size but there’s a difference. A standard paintball marker is capable of firing several dozens rounds per minute whereas the airsoft guns can fire hundreds of rounds per minute which can lead to exciting battles between airsoft fans. The only downside here is that if an airsoft paintball breaks inside the gun you’ll have to completely strip it down to clear out the gunk inside.
